Mister maker That gives me an idea DVD - Review

JR and TP are both huge Mister Maker fans, so when I was given the opportunity to review Abbey Home Medias new Mister Maker DVD I asked the boys if they would like to, and of course they said YES!
The boys were so excited when the parcel arrived they couldn't wait for me to connect the laptop to the tv (Our DVD player is broken).

When I put the DVD on the boys sat still, quiet and didn't take their eyes off the screen (still and quiet never ever happens!) They watched the whole DVD which has a running time of 95 minutes and when it finished they asked to watch it through again and they did quietly again except for lots of giggling and laughing.
There are 5 episodes on the DVD they are listed on the back of the DVD as shown below

I would completely recommend this DVD for the little Mister Maker fans in your life, we watched it with the tiny 3's cousins as well and they all really enjoyed it their ages are 2,3,5,&7 so although its a cbeebies production I think it would appeal to all ages as there abilities grow as they get older they can try the makes over and over again.

I was sent this DVD free of charge for the purposes of this review but as always on me and the tiny 3 all the options included in this review are honest and my own.

Learn to read with the Alphablocks phonics first steps Volume 1

My boys love watching cbeebies and especially the love to learn thread that is shown at 9am and 1pm, so when I was asked if I'd like to review the new alphablocks DVD I jumped at the chance.

The DVD comes with a free alphablocks phonics poster which the boys both loved so much they insisted it was put straight on their wall.

The DVD its self runs for 86 minutes and has 18 episodes which are

Letter sounds
Taps
In
Man
Din
Dog
Kick
Cat
Dot
Pen
Up
Red
Hen
Bop
Top
Fred
Lips
Hill

It also has a section called steps which shows the steps in which are learnt and this supports the early years curriculum phonics teaching style

The section I was most interested in was the parent guide the parent guide is a read through guide which tells you how you can help your child to learn the phonics and ultimately learn to read, I found this really interesting as I'm of an age where phonics wasn't taught in schools and as such wasn't sure how to help the tiny 3.

The boys loved watching the episodes of the alphablocks on this DVD, they watched all 18 episodes 3 times in a row and my boys never sit still to watch anything!

I would really recommend this DVD to anyone who has pre-school children that are ready to learn the phonic sounds i think the optimum age to start would be around 2.5 years old and can be used right through early years education.

Here's the press release bit:

Alphablocks Volume 1 phonics first steps

Phonics first steps introduces the first letters and sounds that children learn at school and starts them off making simple words. With repeat viewing, children can build key phonics skills and boost their reading confidence-while having lots and lots of fun. This DVD is available from all good DVD stockists.
